
Born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, Torrey was destined for “Show Business”. On Stage as a performer Torrey landed leadings role in every show he was cast in both on and off Broadway starring in productions of The Me Nobody Knows, Annie, The Wiz, A Christmas Carol, Once on This Island, Beauty & The Beast and Ain’t Misbehavin. He has served as Director on national touring productions of Jesus Christ Superstar, Five Guys Named Moe, and regional productions of The Color Purple, Dreamgirls, Once On This Island, Hiram & Nettie and The Wiz just to name a few.
Torrey has Stage Managed the World Music Awards and has worked behind the scenes on The Billboard Music Awards, Radio Music Awards, American Idol, the NAACP Image Awards, The B.E.T Celebration of Gospel and the Grammy Awards. His prestigious list of clients and mentors includes Bill Cosby, Ann Margret, Tyler Perry, Cicely Tyson, Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight and Oprah Winfrey just to name a few. For 8 years Torrey has enjoyed touring the country as the Tour/Production Manager for Dr. Maya Angelou. In 2009 Torrey founded A Source Of Joy Theatricals/ Broadway In The Hood a 501c3 Non-Profit that is dedicated to “Helping Others Open Doors” and to changing lives through the arts. In 2013 Theatrical Entertainment Worldwide was formed. T.E.W is a full production/entertainment company that assist writers, singers, producers, and arts organizations mount professional production and events throughout the country. Torrey has recently taken on the reigns as the Director of a new musical revue titled Remembering Luther: The Night I feel In Love starring the incredibly talented Abraham McDonald that has been receiving rave reviews and is slated to open in Las Vegas in 2013.
As an inspirational speaker, mentor, teacher, producer and director Torrey is always looking for new ways to inspire and to uplift. “It is my love and hope for the future that inspires me from day to day, knowing that through teaching and passing on the gifts & talents that God has blessed me with, this wonderful world of entertainment will carry my spirit for generations to come”.
